Savor the breathtaking aerial views of the city and bay on your helicopter flight. Upon landing, your driver shuttles you to picturesque Sausalito to enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of this colorful village's top spots. Afterwards, explore the town known for its artists and art galleries. Browse its many shops. Top off your afternoon with a view-filled ferry ride back to San Francisco. The first day visits Muir Woods where you will have an hour and a half to walk among the tallest trees in the world-the Coastal Redwood. After exploring this old growth forest we will regroup and head into the wine country. After lunch in the quaint town of Healdsburg, you will visit wineries in the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valley appellations. Day two concentrates on the vineyards and wineries of the Sonoma Valley. From Kenwood and Glen Ellen to the Carneros region we will taste our way down the "Valley of the Moon" visiting a variety of wineries throughout the day. Historic Downtown Sonoma will provide the location for the second lunch stop and an opportunity to visit the Town Square including the Sonoma Mission, the City Hall, the Sonoma Jack Cheese Factory and the boutique shops that surround this bustling retail area. This two day tour is perfect for those who would prefer a more relaxed pace to appreciate both the wine and cuisine of the famous California Wine Country.
This tour is seasonal and operates from May through to September The day begins with the tour picking you up from your lodging between 6:00am and 7:00am and heading east across the Bay Bridge offering great views of San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and Fisherman's Wharf. You will stop for breakfast (at own expense) in the Central Valley. Famous for its rich volcanic soil, the Central Valley is a booming agricultural region best known for Almonds, Grapes, Tomatoes, Peaches and Strawberries. After breakfast the tour will continue your journey up through the cattle and horse ranching lands of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains to the American River. Once in the foothills, the tour will either meet up with the EarthTrek Expeditions bus or go straight to the put-in for the Upper Chili Bar Run, a continuous thrilling 8 mile run of Class III rapids. The action begins immediately with Meatgrinder, followed by numerous rapids including Racehorse Bend, Rock Garden, Triple Threat and climaxed by a mad dash through famed Troublemaker Rapid. The trip ends as you pull ashore back to camp where your guides prepare a tasty BBQ lunch. After lunch, there is time to play some beach volleyball and enjoy the river, then unwind by tasting some fine California wines before heading back in the van to San Francisco, dropping you at your lodging between 6.00pm and 6.30pm.
